Anita’s Perfect and Easy Baked Apple Hand Pie Pocket

A perfect way of welcoming this Fall Season with a warm healthy apple hand pie. A pocket of flaky layers of sweet Love in each bite. Enjoy and share it!

Ingredients 

3 Gala Apples, peeled and thinly sliced

1 Tablespoon cinnamon, ground

1/3 teaspoon nutmeg, ground

1/3 teaspoon pumpkin spice

2 Tablespoons of light brown sugar + 2 teaspoon for dusting the top

1 sheet of puff pastry, defrosted

juice of 1 lemon

1/2 cup Raspberry or Strawbery Homemade Compote: Chopped and cooked down fruits till gooey

1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon of milk

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 375 grades Farenheit.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Place sliced and peeled apples in a medium bowl. Incorporate light brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spice and lemon juice. Toss all until well combined. Set aside. 4. Unroll puff pastry sheet and cut it into four equal stripes. Spread 1 1/2 Tablespoon of your chosen homemade fruit compote in the center and placed 6 slices of apples over fruit compote into 2 rows of 3 apple slices. 5. Fold over the puff pastry to cover the apples and put 1/2 teaspoon of your homemade compote on top of puff pastry. Fold over other side of pastry. Seal gently by pressing the sides of puff pastry, and brush top with egg wash. 6. Cut 2 slits across the top of the hand pie and place one slice of apple in the center of pocket.7. Sprinkle top with brown sugar.8. Place into the oven and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown on top.

 

So delicious to be served next to a Vanilla Ice cream with some caramelized apples on top. Enjoy and Spread the Love!
