Anita’s Delicious Cheese Wrapped dough with simple pink Sauce
These are sponge, crispy, dough-wrapped around mozzarella and halloumi cheese. An irresistible appetizer or snack that will become one of your favorite at any party !
I have a different recipe posted before. While I was experimenting, I came out with this healthy version where these are baked instead of fried, also using a pre-made puff pastry dough resulting in a faster and easier way to make and enjoy.
Ingredients
1 lb. package of Puff Pastry
1pound Halloumi Cheese, cut into thick batons
1/2 pound Mozzarella cheese, cut into batons
1 egg, whisked
Pink Sauce: Whisk together Mayonnaise, Ketchup, diced pickle cucumbers, dash of hot sauce, salt and pepper.
Preparation
- Pre-heat oven to 395 grades Farenheit. Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Cut the dough of puff pastry into a long length enough strip of 1 1/2 inches of thickness to be able to seal the ends.
- Wrap the two cheese sticks around the dough strips, pressing the ends fully.
- Place the cheese sticks on the baking sheet.
- For a golden finish, brush each one with the whisked egg.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes until puffy and light golden brown.
- Serve with Pink Sauce. Enjoy warm while last 🙂 and Share the Love!
